Why do we have to disable the App store when installing Mobicip

Forums:

  • Filtering policy

Perhaps I'm a bit naive but I don't understand why I have to disable the App store on my son's Ipod touch for Mobicip to be effective.  I'm hesitant to do so since he likes to be able to review and download apps but want to make sure I'm fully informed of why this needs to be done .  Thank you.

Re: Why do we have to disable the App store when installing Mobi

If App store is left available in the device, your son can download any free browser from there and it totally voids the point of having a filtered browser. For instance, Google app is rated 4+ but it acts as a browser and allows access to all kind of inappropriate content. This is an issue with almost all apps that have their own browsers. This is the reason why we recommend our users to disable/delete App store and all other browsers available/downloaded onto the device and make Mobicip as the only window available for filtered internet access. Hope we answered your concern.

Re: How do you do disable

Hello Derek
Please note that you can block any app installed in your Android device through Mobicip App restrictions. Please launch Mobicip app > Menu > Settings > Mobicip > App Restrictions > check the box next the specific app.
To block the App store, go to same Menu > Settings > Mobicip > check the box next to 'Block Play Store'.

App Store or app blocking

Is this same app blocking feature available on the iPhone?

Re: App Store or app blocking

Hello Bethany
Unfortunately, no. App blocking is only available in Android devices. Due to the limitations imposed by Apple, this cannot be done on iOS devices.
