Time limits and apps

It appears that time limits only affect the Mobicip browser.  This is disappointing.  If time limits do not restrict apps, the utility of these protections is greatly diminished.  Perhaps I just missed something in the documentation.

With an MDM profile installed, you should be able to restrict access to apps.  What am I missing?

We apologize for any

We apologize for any confusion caused. Unfortunately, Mobicip's filter works only on the Mobicip Safe Browser and not on any other apps available on the device. While we would like to make our filtering service work with other apps on the device, we are not allowed to create software that runs in the background. Hence, we had to create our own browser to provide filtered internet access. Please note that this is the case with any other internet filter available for Apple/Android mobile devices. In other words, Mobicip will not be able to restrict/monitor other apps in the device.

Our App Monitoring feature enables you to keep track of the apps being downloaded onto your devices without manually checking the kid's device every time. This way you can make sure that Mobicip is the only window left for filtered internet access.

You can review what apps are being installed on each of your devices through the Apps tab; Instantly review the rating, price and category of the app on the App Store. We are working on a feature that will send you alert when a new app is downloaded. We will keep you posted on this feature.

Perhaps the previous question

Perhaps the previous question was intended to mean the following, which is my primary question in perusing mobicip:

I would like for the DEVICES to have time limits, not just the internet. So that regardless of what the child is doing on they tablet, they have X number of hours a day and that's it. The app screentime does this, but the one device limitation (rather than cumulating the time used from various devices), makes it unsuitable for my needs. I believe how it works is that when they're approaching their limit, they get a 5-minute warning and then the device is disabled (on iOS I think this blocks everything besides the native apps).

Is there any plan to do something like this?

Re: Perhaps the previous question

Hello Amber

We understand your concern. We expect to have full screen time limit support across devices soon. Not only will you be able to limit screen time on iOS devices, the limit will span across all devices and computers that you have Mobicip enabled on. This is a complex feature and is taking more time to develop than we had expected.

We will keep you posted on any updates reg this.

Time Management

I just signed up for Mobicip premium today.  My concern is the total amount of screen time my children have have their divices.  They each have an iPad and Chromebook.  It was my understanding that time limits that could be set up in Mobicip were for cumulative divice usage per day, not permissible hours of the day.  So if my kids are allowed 2 total hours of screen time each per day, then it could be split up between the iPad and Chromebook.  It seems that Mobicip can't provide this feature on an individual platform or across platforms?  Is this correct?  Based on the post preceeding this one that I read after sighning up, Mobicip is in the process of providing this feature.  Is this correct?  When will it be available?

Re: Time Management

Hello Kyle
Yes, that is correct. Blocking internet access based on cumulative time is not an option as of now. We are working on it and you can expect an announcement soon.
