My son told me that YouTube was suddenly blocked on his iPod. I logged into my Premium account, chose his profile, and selected Edit filter settings. Sure enough, YouTube was blocked. When I enabled it, though, the sub-category menu was not available. In fact, the sub-category menus aren't available for any categories.
The on-line help (http://content.mobicip.com/content/how-customize-your-internet-using-mob...) clearly states "Click on each category to expand the sub-categories."
What happened? Is the sub-category feature no longer available?

Re: Sub-Categories No Longer Available?
We are sorry for the trouble. Previously Mobicip filtering was increasingly algorithmic and works dynamically, while the categories were based on a URL database that we originally started with about 8 years ago. Now we recently rolled out a change where the old categories are replaced with the revamped ones. There will not be any sub-categories anymore. The new categories are more logical and robust. Please give it a try.

I'm very disappointed that you have taken away the filtering sub-categories. The utility of Mobicip has gone down considerably because of this.

YouTube sub-categories
So, if I allow the YouTube category, and the sub-categories are no longer available, is EVERYTHING on YouTube now available to my kids? I hope not, that doesn't seem right!

No more sub-categories?
The lack of sub-categories reduces the utility of Mobicip considerably! The existing categories are very broad.

Are you saying that, with the new approach, YouTube filtering is all or nothing? In other words, YouTube is either allowed or blocked? Or are you saying that if YouTube is allowed, the profile age (12 and under, etc.) will be taken into account and YouTube videos will be dynamically filtered for age-appropriate content?

Re: Are you saying that, with the
Yes, you are correct. If Youtube is allowed, the videos will be filtered dynamically. Mobicip filters YouTube by reviewing the title, description, comments and other meta information associated with each video. In most cases, the publisher would include suggestive words and phrases with the video and it would be blocked by Mobicip. Like any filtering product, Mobicip filters the content on a best effort basis and goes beyond most other products in terms of the quality of filtering. Mobicip is the only filtering product that offers YouTube filtering on a video-by-video basis. So, please try accessing youtube.com through Mobicip and see its effectiveness in terms of filtering inappropriate content.

YouTube
Well I am a bit confused, because there are not age filters now, only the new moderate, strict, monitor, etc. All of a sudden I feel like I am having a hard time understanding how to make sure my kids are safe. I know that it is difficult to ensure the garbage on YouTube is filtered, I wish YouTube would take some responsibility and give us a better way to keep things filtered (I am convinced that YT is run by people who hated being censored as kids and want to purposely try to allow kids these days to see anything and everything they want no matter what the content or damage, but I digress). I guess I will just keep trying to figure it all out.
