Forums:
We have been trying for a couple days to figure out how to set up our kids' new Chromebooks with Mobicip but it still isn't working. We followed the only instructions you have for Chromebooks. To start there are two problems in those limited instructions where I can't complete the steps:
1) Step 4. Go to chrome://extensions page and tick the "Allow in Incognito" checkbox. This enables Mobicip filtering in Incogtino mode as well.
When I type "chrome://extensions" into the Chrome browser there is no option for ticking "allow in incognito". If I am supossed to access "extensions" another way that is really unclear and confusing. I found on my own that when I click on the Mobicip icon (logged in as my child) in the browser window up pops a small window that has an option for "allow in incognito". When I click on that up pops a window saying "warning extension setting is blocked by admin". So that leaves me confused if this step is actually completed - does that warning imply that the "allow in icognito" has been applied or not?
2) Step 7. Right click on the Mobicip icon on the toolbar and select 'Hide in Chrome menu'.

Update:
One of these problems dissapeared after I fixed something else. We were using our kid's "managed" google accounts they were given at school to log in to our devices and switching to using a new google account I created for them fixed most of our problems. Now using the non-managed account to log in to our Chromebook when I go to Step #4 itdoes give me the option of Allow Incognito and I can check the box (previously the option just wasn't there).
However I still can't figure out how to "Hide in Chrome Menu" - not seeing that as an option anywhere??

Hide in Chrome menu
Hi there,
Did anyone respond on this and was there an answer as I have exactly the same problem - I really don't want hand over my son's chromebook until that's been hidden.
Thanks!

Mobicip Easily Deleted
It's been three years since the above post and I'm experiencing the same issue. Has this been resolved. After severalmonths of use and seeing no statistics of my daughters usage, I found that the Mobicip extension was deleted from her Chromebook. I reinstalledMobicip, closely following your instructions. After completely installing and securing, as noted, I decided to see if it was still poccible to delete the extension:
Step 1: click extension icon in toolbar
Step 2: click the three dots next to the extension
Step 3: click remove from chrome
That's it... Mobicip gone... full access...
What am I (have I been) paying for?
If that's too hard to figure out, my 10year old can simply google remove Mobicip and find this post, along with a dozen others at the top of the Google search results.
Please let me know if I'm missing something.
Furthermore, even after reinstall, I'm no longer able to get any usage statistics - only "No Browsing History" even though she used the Chrombook daily.

Re: Mobicip Easily Deleted
Hello Mike
We are sorry for the trouble. We do agree that there are some loopholes in Chromebook version (because of Google design/setup) but some are actually solvable. Without Chrome Management Console, the Mobicip extension can be disabled or removed from the Chromebook. This is a known issue and we have raised it to Google's attention. Their response has been that the ability to lock down extensions and apps is only meant for Enterprises and Schools that purchase the management console licenses. So, unfortunately standalone Chromebooks are vulnerable and smart users can find ways to workaround Mobicip. If you feel strongly about this, please report a bug to Google. If enough users complain, perhaps Google might change its stance.
Chromebook is not very child friendly for families at this time due to Google's policy. Perhaps enough users expressing concern might change their point of view, but it remains to be seen.
As a deterrent, Mobicip sends a notification immediately through the app on your phone (in Parent Mode), and in your parent portal when the extension is removed, as you may already know. We recommend that you discuss what is acceptable with your child to ensure that the notification is not triggered, and corrective action taken if it is.
