I'm trying to figure any work arounds my kids would use and that's the simplest one they can do is disable it. Granted, I'm finding if it's disabled, it's still tracking somehow, so that's good. But an answer to figure this out would be nice.
Please note that this is a known issue and our dev team is actively investigating the issue on priority to find a workaround for this and fix it.
We contacted Google reg this issue and they are not willing to change some options for retail users - like removing the powerwash option from start menu and hiding the third party extension icon.
You should certainly contact them and provide your feedback. The voice of the customer has more bearing than the voice of third-party developers like us, or even their employees. So your feedback will certainly bring attention to the issue.
Is there any workaround for the proxy issue? I have tried disabling Proxies from the filter however, the "Disable Extension" still shows in the Chromebook Settings menu, allowing the user to easily remove Mobicips filtering protection. Is there another setting I can disable so the extension won't be accessible in the settings... at least until your crew can permanently fix this issue? It's making Mobicip on a Chromebook practically useless.
Apologies for the delay. This is another known issue that popped up after recent changes done at Google end. We understand this would be quite frustrating from user's perspective. We have submitted an issue with Google reg this and are actively following up. We will keep you posted if we get any updates from them.

Workaround for proxy
Unfortunately, this workaround makes the product useless. Can completely bypass parental control in 2
clicks (including the one for settings).
