Play apps on Chromebook

Forums:

  • Filtering policy

We have an ASUS Flipbook Chromebook, which now allows access to the Google Play Store and Android apps. On my parental Chromebook settings, I have an option "Enable Google Play Store on your Chromebook". I enabled this and downloaded an app. My daughter, a supervised user, does not see this app from Chrome. Her Chromebook settings also show the "Enable Google Play Store" option, but this option is disabled. (I understand that I don't want her to have access to the Play store itself.) Does Mobicip support use of Android apps by a supervised user on a Chromebook?

Mobicip Play Store management on Chromebook

I attempted to install the Mobicip browser app on my Chromebook as this is the only way to manage the Play Store on Chrome OS. The app continues to crash. If your developers can get this to work, Mobicip may become the best option on the market especially for only $40 a month. But, until this is fixed, it is useless to parents who have Chromebooks with the Play Store enabled.

play store not working

Although I've been impressed with the re-design/launch of Mobicip in Sept/Oct 2018, I still continue to have issues on my kids Chromebook.  One step forward, two steps back every other week.  When trying to open the Play Store on a Monitored profile (so there should be no filtering), a Google Play apps and services window pops up and says "Couldn't connect with the server. Please check your network connection and try again.  If the problem persists, restart your Chromebook."

I've restarted already and it won't work. As soon as I disable the Mobicip extension, the Play Store terms load and it works fine. :-(

Re: Play store is not working

Please try the following:
1. Delete Mobicip extension from the specific Google account
2. Try accessing Play Store and check if it works
3. Then check if Play store is enabled in Settings - Chrome browser > Google Play Store > Allow Google Play store
4. Reinstall Mobicip extension and try again

In case the issue persists only with Mobicip extension installed, please let us know and we will investigate further.
