Mobicip as default browser on iMac?

We have recently switched to Mobicip from Net Nanny for our son. It is going to run on three devices - his school-issued iPad, his iPhone and our home iMac. I'm struggling with determining how to set Mobicip as the default browser on the iMac. He has his own profile on the iMac (no access to other profiles), and ideally I'd like for it to just restrict Safari and Chrome, etc. on his profile - not on the admin profile. I've found where to do that within the Parental Controls for the profile, but can't find where to show Mobicip as the option for him to use to get on the internet on that profile. We use Safari for the "grown up" internet browser, and would love to keep it that way for convenience of having all our bookmarks/account info when we pay bills online. Any suggestions?

Re: Mobicip as default browser on iMac?

Please note that Mobicip solution for Mac work differently. Mobicip for Mac platform does not require any specific browser. It resides at the OS level and works on all browsers that you use for browsing the internet.

Please click on the Mobicip icon, you will be prompted to enter your account credentials. After confirmation, you can assign profiles for the login accounts in the computer. Then you are good to go. So, please start accessing internet through any browser like you usually do and check if inappropriate content are blocked by Mobicip.

Browser setup?

Gita, I recently purchased for Mac and am able to access fine through Chrome, but Firefox is displaying an insecure connection message now (and wasn't prior to install). Any tips on checking browser settings to make sure they work appropriately with Mobicip? Thanks!

Re: Browser setup?

Hello Gregory
Please note that Firefox support should be enabled using an add-on. As of now, you will have to download and install the add-on from the below link:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/mobicipdownloads/macosx/firefox_ssl_support_with_mobicip-0.1.0-fx%2Ban-mac.xpi

Please download it in another browser, then open the file in Firefox using Cmd+O on the keyboard and install it in Firefox. Eventually, the add-on will be automatically installed on all current and new users in the system.

this doesn't work for me - firefox_ssl_support_with_mobicip...

this solution doesn't work for me.

I'm on a mac, el capitan, firefox 57.0 (64bit).

when I attempt to open the downloaded file with Firefox, I get this message:

"firefox SSL support for mobicip could not bve installed because it is not compatible with firefox 57.0".

I'm so aggrivated, we can not access ANY website with firefox - all websites, even mozilla.org, give the "your connection is not secure" page.

Re: this doesn't work for me - firefox_ssl_support_with_mobicip.

Hello Bryce
We sincerely apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Unfortunately, Mobicip software has some compatibility issue with the latest Firefox Quantum version. We suggest that you not upgrade to this version. Our dev team is actively investigating this issue and we will keep you posted on the updates.
