How to allow access to specific apps?

On my son's iPod, there are some apps that are unavailable to download or install. In this case, I would like to allow Instagram, but I am not sure why it's disabled for installation. Does the filtering level determine this? I have social media allowed in the category list.

Thanks

Re: How to allow access to specific apps?

We are sorry for the trouble you are having. We suspect that the option 'Installing apps' would be disabled on your device. To re-enable it back, please launch the Settings app >> touch General >> Restrictions >> enter the 4 digit restrictions pass code >> change the option 'Installing Apps' to ON.

Our best recommendation at this point is to download the apps/games your son wants and then turn off the App Store by following the same steps mentioned above. You can always re-enable the App Store temporarily when your son wants to download other apps, and then lock it back again when he is done. At this time, that is the best way to ensure that no alternative browsers are installed without your knowledge.

Please let us know if this resolves the issue. Otherwise we will be happy to assist further.

No, this is not the issue. I

No, this is not the issue. I have install apps enabled in his settings. He is able to install other apps. So, the filtering level of "Middle School" does not filter out the ability to install certain apps?

Re: No, this is not the issue. I

Please note that Mobicip's filter works only on the Mobicip Safe Browser and not on any other apps available on the device including iTunes App Store. In other words, Mobicip will not be able to restrict/monitor download of other apps from the App Store. While we would like to make our filtering service work with other apps on the device, Apple does not allow us to create software that runs in the background. Hence, we had to create our own browser to provide filtered internet access. Please note that this is the case with any other internet filter available for Apple's mobile devices.

twitter example

If I would like to restrict the time one of my kid passes on twitter, for example, I guess I have to remove the twitter app from his iPad, because this app cannot be controled by mobicip and then my kid would have to log on the twitter website, passing through mobicip and then the time limits would apply. Correct ?

Re: twitter example

Hello Jef,
Yes, you are right. You will have to delete/disable the Twitter app and let your kids access twitter.com through Mobicip. Then the time limits will be applied. Any access done through Mobicip app can be restricted through Premium settings.
