White Lists - Wildcards?

Are wildcards allowed in the whitelists? for example *cnn.com*, etc.?

Yes, but the wildcard character itself is not required. For instance, if you add cnn.com to your whitelist, all variations of sites with cnn.com as the domain will be allowed.

Thanks for bringing this up. It is probably useful for other parents as well.

what if I want the some specific urls to be ok but the overall domain to be blocked:

IE I want to block youtube.com but allow specific videos

??

Yes, you can add

youtube.com

to your blacklist, and then add the specific URL for the videos that you want to allow, like

youtube.com/watch?v=xFkB4ZYg9xU

to your whitelist. The whitelist always takes precedence over the blacklist, so the specific video will be allowed but youtube overall will continue to be blocked.
