Time of day parental control for internet use

Posted: Sun, 01/10/2010 - 19:42

Is it possible to disable internet access after a specified time of day?  For example, 11 pm on weeknights.   I thought I had read that such a feature was or may in the future? be available in the premium version of mobicip.

When blocking certain time limits, does this include everything on the I-Touch or just the internet?  My point is I don't want him on the internet in the middle of the night and I don't want him texting either.

Unfortunately, the time limits feature on Mobicp works only on the Mobicip Safe Browser app and not on any other apps available on the device. This is due to restrictions set by Apple that doesn't allow us to run software in the background.

Time Limits is a feature that we are actively working on. Our current estimates indicate that it will be available by the end of Jan / early Feb. It should be available immediately for Premium subscribers at no additional charge. We will post an update here as soon as the feature goes live.

We understand your frustration and thank you for your patience.

The feature is still in alpha stage as we are focused on fixing some other critical issues with the service. We have just started working on the feature again and expect the beta to go live in a couple of weeks. We will post an update here as soon as it is ready.

We are terribly sorry for the delay in making this feature available. There are still some bugs that we are ironing out. A beta version should go live sometime this week. We will post an update here as soon as the feature is live.

Thanks for your patience and continued support.

Ok Folks! Please accept our profuse apologies for being almost 5 months late with this feature. There were good reasons for the delay, but no excuses for setting an expectation that turned out to be way too optimistic in hindsight. We've been waiting to say this for quite some time now - Time Limits is now live!

Mobicip's WebMonitor Premium users can now setup time limits for Internet access by following the link below
http://www.mobicip.com/portal/settings/time_limits
Please bookmark this link in your browser as there are no navigational links to this page at this time from the WebMonitor portal. Based on the feedback we receive from this beta rollout to the interest list, we will make the feature widely available to all Premium users.

Please try the feature and let us know how you like it. Your feedback is much appreciated and will help us improve the feature for all users.

I am using safari on a mac to set up time limits.  I don't see the 'middle of the night' times as blockable. Can you set me straght?

thanks!

You will see one column for the 12am-5am timeslot on the Timelimits table. Please note that you can block/unblock this slot just like any other hourly slot available on the table. We designed the table to combine the timings from midnight-5am since most parents do not want their children to be using the internet during this time.

Please let us know if this answers your questions. Otherwise, we will be happy to assist further.
