My son has mobicip at his middle school where everyone uses their Ipod touch at school. We installed the
mobicip from home a few months ago before he went to this school. Each day he trys to connect but is
unsuccessful. It says hotspot mode. He then waits to connect by waiting for it to count down but still
cannot connect after repeated attempts during the day?

Thank you for reporting the problem on the forum and via email. We have already followed up with you on this issue and are working with the school to resolve it. We are posting this response here since it may be useful for other users if/when they have similar problems.
Sometimes, WiFi networks will require the user to accept a user agreement or make a purchase before actually connecting to the network. Mobicip supports a "hotspot" mode so that users can access this page and accept the agreement terms and conditions. It turns out that from iOS 3.x onwards, the agreement page is shown by the device software itself which pre-empts Mobicip. If you use the device at a Starbucks, you will notice that the agreement page is brought up automatically by the device when the network is detected. This should happen even when Safari is disabled.
Please note that this is not a Mobicip app-specific problem. It is now a feature of the iOS devices to be able to connect to WiFi networks that require an agreement or purchase. Please try the troubleshooting steps described in this article from Apple's customer support. As you follow the steps, just make sure to use Mobicip in lieu of Safari wherever it is mentioned in the article.
As you know, we are following-up directly with the technical staff at the school as well to resolve this issue. Please bear with us and we hope to resolve the problem soon.

Wife Hot Spot at Windsor High School in Windsor, CO

I have the same problem. I have disabled Safari on my son's iPot Touch. However, when he attempts to connect to the school's wifi, it says HOT SPOD MODE, YOU HAVE 10 min to FINISH SETUP and the rest of the screen is white or blank. There is no other way to get the login screen to pop-up. How do I resolve this? The link to apple's support pages does not provide any new information (it's specific to Safari, not Mobicip) that resolves this issue.
Help!
Thanks,

We are very sorry for the trouble you are having in connecting to the school's WiFi network. Mobicip does support hotspots that require and agreement. With the iOS 3.x version and later, Apple has added built-in support for WiFi hotspots with user agreements. So what happens is that the built-n hotspot mode overrides the Mobicip hotspot mode. If the built-in hotspot mode does not kick-in Mobicip's hotspot mode can take over.
We do have thousands of students using Mobicip in school WiFi networks. Please be assured that this problem should be resolvable. In your particular case, something peculiar is happening. The device's built-in hotspot mode is overriding Mobicip's hotspot mode, but somehow the built-in hotspot mode is not coming up and allowing you to enter the password for the network.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and the additional steps you need to take to resolve this. Here is what we recommend:
1. Please try to visit a local coffee shop (like Starbucks) that has free WiFi. Follow the steps in the Apple article to connect to the network.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3867
Wherever the article mentions Safari, use Mobicip instead. If you are able to connect to this network, it means there is no problem with the device itself.
2. Please visit the school with your son and try to follow the same steps that you did at the free public WiFi hotspot. If using Mobicip alone doesn't work, unlock and allow Safari briefly for a few minutes and try to connect to the network.
If either of these steps fail, you may want to take the device back to Apple and have it replaced.
Please try these suggestions and let us know if the problem is resolved now. Otherwise we will be happy to assist further.
Hot spot mode preventing access at school

Dear Mobicip,
I am the computer teacher at a school and we have just purchased some I Pads. I downloaded your app onto them. Every time I try to log on to our network using mobicip I get hotspot mode. I tried your suggestion in the knowledgebase of enabling safari and seeing if it works. Safari works fine. These are brand new I Pad 2's with the most updated operating system possible(just updated tonight.) We are using an airport extreme and the I pad I am testing has its address entered into the mac filter option for access control on the airport(so it should not need a password to join our network) I've read the apple support article that you've directed other users to who have the same problem. I did not find it helpful. I realize you have thousands of students using mobicip in lots of schools, so this must be able to be resolved. Please help.
