Modify Home Page

Is it possible to modify the Home Page? We would like to remove KidsClick. My highschooler prefers his friends not see this and that his browser looks like the standard Safari browser as much as possible

I have just installed Mobicip and can see the benefits it will provide. As a user of other applications for our PC's at home (Integuard for example), it does highlight that where the application is transparent to the child (other than when a specific site is blocked) we are able to  monitor trends, which can highlight other issues before they occur. In addition, not having the ability to change search settings and locales impacts international users who are not locally based. For example it would be convenient if the Google shortcut could be altered to the local region to assist with student searches for information in their local country, rather than having to type in the updated URL each time. I understand this is being worked on, any indication of the roadmap and development schedule would assist.

Your suggestion to show browsing trends for allowed websites is very interesting. The request has been noted by our product team and we will prioritize and address the requirement going forward.

Mobicip is a (Software as a Service) SaaS solution, meaning the filtering is performed on the server side and not on the device. What this means is that websites will see the requests coming from our servers and not the device. Sites like Google and others perform an automatic redirection based on the location of the request, causing problems when you are browsing from a location that is different from the server location. We are working on addressing this issue. At this time, the best workaround we can suggest is that you bookmark the specific Google URL for your country and select that instead of typing in Google.com.

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a timeline for these features. Please bear with us and we will post an update to this thread as soon as we are able. Your feedback is much appreciated and we take it very seriously and prioritize our development accordingly. Thank you for the active participation in this community. It is what keeps us going!

I would also like to see the ability to modify the home page. Both of my sons have said that they do not like their friends seeing the default mobicip page.

We understand that the default home page should be customizable. It is one of the features that we plan to rollout in a future update.

Meanwhile, it really doesn't have to affect users much at all. The default home page is shown only when the browser is launched the first time. Once you start browsing, subsequent sessions should open Mobicip and show the last visited page and not the default home page.

Please bear with us and we will add the ability to customize the home page soon.

We don't have the ability to edit the home page at this time. If you are using the latest update of Mobicip's Safe Browser, it should default to the home page only when the app is launched the first time. During subsequent access, the last opened page from the history will be opened. The home page link still resides in the bookmarks, but it is not loaded by default at any point.

Having said that, we can allow users to customize the home page if it is a useful feature. We have notified our development team and added this to the request queue. We will post an update here as soon as I get an idea of the ETA.

I also agree that it is a very good idea to allow users to modify or change the homepage. My son has indicated that he doesn't want his friends seeing the default mobicip page.

Modify home screen (yet another request!) & time-of-day controls

 Hi.  The software is great.  Thanks.  Two requests:

1. Let us change the home screen to Google or something else.  I get that the links on your home screen probably generate some revenue for you.  But it is a constant reminder (when it does come up) that the kid has a leash on them, and it creates animosity and friction toward Mobicip.  You guys should make the change to allow it, as you will likely make more money through retention and referrals than you do through any monetizable links you have there.

2. Time-of-day controls is a high priority feature.  If we could limit browser access during school hours, for example, that would make you heroes to a lot of parents who need to be bad guys and police whether their kids are carrying their ipods to school.

Your point is well taken. The default home page only shows up the first time Mobicip is launched. If you navigate away from this page, the home page is never again loaded by default. Also, we don't get any revenue on the links we do provide. It is just meant to be a good starting point for younger kids. Perhaps we should simply point to Google as you have suggested, if not support custom home pages.

You are absolutely correct. We have this feature developed and close to deployment. Actually it has been close to deployment for a while now. Unfortunately, it got bundled with a few other features that are incomplete, and this has lead to the time limits feature being delayed as well. We are hopeful that these issues should be resolved and the time limits feature rolled out pretty soon.
