I followed the instructions and installed the mobicip for Linux beta and that went well. I installed it on a system running Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 which is not a netbook but a desktop system. There are five separate family accounts (two adult and three child accounts) that can be used on the Linux system. I logged into my mobicip account and added two additional users (for the two adults) and I already had an existing user in mobicip for one child. I configured the adults to be able to access the youtube.com website and left the child user to have youtube filtered.
In each Linux account I started the Mobicip Online Safety GUI and logged in to set the corresponding user to the respective account. The first problem I encountered was that multiple radio buttons can get selected and it is difficult to tell which is the one being used. Here is a screen shot of what I mean:

Additionally, when filtering is enabled, I have problems with accessing Picasa web albums. I don't get a mobicip page saying I am denied but just a blank page until I bring up the Mobicip Online Safety GUI and disable filtering.
Second, I discovered that after disabling filtering from one Linux account it affects all the rest (filtering is disabled for them as well). So, I believe this is not working as I expected. It seems that the current beta works at a device level for the Linux system as opposed to at the individialLinux account level. So, when I when I went through each Linux account setting up the mobicip user it was not associating that user with just that Linux account but globally which isn't all that useful.
Can someone explain how this should work with a desktop or laptop Linux system that has multiple accounts on it?
regards,
Luciano

Re: Mobicip account filtering on Ubuntu
Thank you for trying Mobicip on your Linux system and for your detailed feedback. We apologize for the delay is responding to this post, but we took the time to review each of your points and investigate any problems.

We were not able to reproduce this problem during our testing. However, we are still investigating the issue and will probably resolve it in the next update.

This one we are able to reproduce and will hopefully fix soon. It should be rolled out even before the next update.

This one is a known limitation and it is by design. We do want to make the user association in the next update. For the beta, we decided with a global setting because netbooks typically have a single regular user, even though an administrator may set it up the first time.
Overall, thanks very much for trying this out and for the feedback. We intend to solve these issues before the version goes out of beta. Please bear with us and we expect to address all of your concerns either in the next update or a future version.
