error message 127??? Can't apply

I am in the process of trying to activate one of the two mobicip's I just purchased online for our PCs.  I started attempting to load our windows 7 32bit machine first.  I have been able to get as far as the "Activate Filter by selecting a Mobicip Child User for each system User" page.  However when I click "Apply" I recieve a message "Failed to Save Settings! Please Try Again".  When I login to each child's user account I am recieving an Error 127 message for Mobicip.  I do not know what I need to do to correct this situation.  Could you email or call me please.  Shannon Griffin  919-510-4858  If not I will need a refund.  I had no problems loading your system onto our older children's ipods.

Thank you

How do I register a device?

Michelle

Posted by Guest on Sat, 11/12/2011 - 23:24
Re: devices

Hello Michelle,

To register your device, you will need to download and install the Mobicip Safe Browser on to your device.

Mobicip Safe Browser is priced at US $4.99 from the iPhone App Store. This is a standalone app that will work with a Mobicip.com account. Once purchased, the app can be installed and used to protect any number of iOS devices you own, for no additional charge.

Please launch the App store app on the device and search for Mobicip. Touch the $4.99 button and touch 'BUY' and the app will be installed on your son's device. In case you already bought the app on your iTunes account, please let us know and we will let you know the next steps about installing the app on your device.

Once you installed the app, launch the app and login using your existing Mobicip account credentials. Please follow the steps outlined in these tutorials to setup Mobicip and other parental control restrictions on the device.

Where is You tube now?

I downloaded & bought the app for my iphohe & followed the instructions about turning off my you tube in my settings. So where is it now? I want my child to be able to watch winnie the pooh & other you tube videos, just wanted to filter out the nudity, sex & possible violence. Should it be under the Mobicip App now? I'm confused how this works. I can still search anything I want even though I set the settings to high school & clicked all the nudity, etc. What am I missing?

Re: Where is You tube now?

We apologize for the confusion caused. Please note that you can access the Youtube website through Mobicip Safe Brower app. Launch Mobicip, type in youtube.com in the address bar and start searching for videos.

We are quite concerned that you were able to access inappropriate content through Mobicip. Please make sure that you access internet through Mobicip app and not through anyother native apps available on the device. This is because, Mobicip's filter works only on the Mobicip Safe Browser and not on any other apps available on the device including Safari. While we would like to make our filtering service work with other apps on the device, Apple does not allow us to create software that runs in the background. Hence, we had to create our own browser to provide filtered internet access. Please note that this is the case with any other internet filter available for Apple's mobile devices.

That is the reason why we suggest our users to disable all other browsers available on the device and make Mobicip as the only window available for filtered internet access. You can ensure this by following the steps outlined in this tutorial.

HELP

Why cannot i NOT find the mobicip browser on my ipod... PLEASE RUSH!!!!

Re: HELP

We are sorry for the trouble you are having. Please make sure that you scroll through the multiple screens on your iPod Touch and make sure that Mobicip is not on one of them. If you are not able to find app in any of the pages, we suspect that the app may have beed deleted by someone or the app has disappeared upon syncing. But do not worry. It is very easy to restore Mobicip from the App Store for no additional charge. Launch the App Store on the device and search for Mobicip. Touch the $4.99 button and select BUY. Use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase Mobicip before, and you will not be charged for the repurchase.

Please let us know if this answers your question and resolves the issue. Otherwise we will be happy to assist further.

Changing setting

I need to change some of the settings on an ipod but am unable to get back to the general settings.  How do I get where I enter my password?

Re: Changing setting

If you mean general settings on the device, please launch the 'Settings' app and go to General >> Restrictions. You need to enter your restrictions passcode to change any settings like Installing/Deleting apps, etc. You can find detailed instructions in the tutorial below:

I wrongly set mobicip for the

I wrongly set mobicip for the highest level of filtering and cannot change it.

1  Where do I go in Mobicip to change that?  Do not remember.

2  Also I realised the mistake straight away and could not rectify it.  Am I the only one?  A little tutorial like for how to set up the iphone parental controls (which I found easier) would be really handy.  There's obviously something I am missing there.

Thanks,

Veronique

Re: I wrongly set mobicip for the

Veronique

We are very sorry that this is not obvious to you. The app requires you to setup a Mobicip.com account, regardless of whether you upgrade to the Premium or not, precisely for this reason. I.e. the ability to change the filtering level by logging in at www.mobicip.com from any browser on your computer.

Simply visit www.mobicip.com from your computer and login using your email address and password. After you login, select Settings > Users.

Mobicip Settings > Users Menu Selection

On this page, you will see the user profile(s) setup under your account. For each user profile, you will see a link named "Edit". Click this link and the filtering level will change into a dropdown list. Select the filtering level you wish to apply and click "Ok" to save the setting.

Please let us know if this answers your questions. Otherwise we will be happy to assist further.

I purchased this on our computer to install on my son's itouch.  Howe do I get it from the computer to his itouch?

Re: Help

If you have purchased the app from iTunes, simply sync the iPod Touch to the computer and iTunes. The Safe Browser app will be installed on the iPod Touch when the sync is complete. Please follow the instructions in the second part of this tutorial to setup parental control restrictions on the iPod Touch.

Please contact us at support(at)mobicip.com if you need any additional help.

Not working

I have bought my daughter an iPod touch - I have bought mobicip and then gone on the website and upgraded to premium and then found nothing was working. I bought mobicip on my daughters ipod using her account but then set everything up on mobicip using my email address and password. Is this the problem and how do I get around it ?

Product Info and Support

Hi,

I just purchased (30+ miinutes ago) the Premium version after reading a nice article about your service in the LA Times yesterday - especially since I live in Thousand Oaks also and wanted to support a local company.  The article was referring to enabling parents to block unsafe browsing etc. on mobile devices in general including non Apple products.  My daughter has a cell phone from a local provider and shame on me for not doing more research before I bought your product online, but it now appears that your product only covers iPhones, iTouches and iPods - is this correct?  If so I may need to cancel this transaction.  The article made it seem that Mobicip would give me a one-stop interface to control content on all my daughters mobile devices.

I see and have no problem with having to buy the iTunes app seperately, but you would do yourselves and your customers (from the number of complaints here) a better service if you took the explaination a step or two further on your website before an order is placed.  Indeed I'm very surprised that you make your customers do this in two seperate steps - no wonder people get confused.  If you bundled the purchase of the iTunes app with either of your two services, it would be immediately clear to every purchaser exactly what they were getting and paying for when they got the pre-order summary - this is standard good website practice the world over now.

I must point out to you also that telling people who might miss something, that "We are sorry this was not obvious to you . . ." is incredibly patronizing!!!  I don't know who handles these questions for you, but someone upstairs had better take a better look at the verbage they are using!  If it was so obvious they wouldn't be asking!  Telling your customers that they are missing the 'obvious' is akin to telling them that they are too stupid to read or figure it out.  I've never seen such patronizing dialog on a Help/Faq site before - shame on you!

Lastly, it's nice that you now have a phone line listed, except it only goes to a voice mail.  I understand that small companies can't staff large call centers, but at the very minimum these days companies that want to encourage the growth of their product through good customer support provide a Live Chat option.  When someone has just bought or is considering buying a new product, waiting 24 hours (possibly) for someone to get back to them is only going to result in unhappy customers and poor word of mouth - both equaling less sales.

Thanks for listening, I will wait to see what the 'Live' person who answers my call tells me before I call my credit card company and deny the transaction.

Re: Product Info and Support

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. It appears that our support staff has already spoken to you over a phone call and addressed your concerns. This post is to make sure we answer the question on the forum as well.

it now appears that your product only covers iPhones, iTouches and iPods - is this correct?

At this time, Mobicip only supports the iOS devices like iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. We have been offering a beta version for Ubuntu Linux and more recently a beta version for Windows along with trial subscriptions to use them.

If you bundled the purchase of the iTunes app with either of your two services

The WebMonitor service is a Premium option and is not required to use Mobicip on the device. This is done mainly to comply with Apple's restrictions regarding the sale of features or functionality outside of the app through the App Store. We are working on displaying the product and pricing table differently on the website to avoid or reduce the confusion. Please bear with us as we roll out this change.

Lastly, it's nice that you now have a phone line listed, except it only goes to a voice mail ... companies that want to encourage the growth of their product through good customer support provide a Live Chat option.

Your point is well taken. Please bear with us and we will see what we can do.

I've never seen such patronizing dialog on a Help/Faq site before - shame on you!

We are terribly sorry for coming across as patronizing. Our intention was to take responsibility for the miscommunication and apologize for it. Hopefully, the redesign of this table should address this issue.

Please let us know if this answers your questions. Otherwise we will be happy to assist further.

"We are sorry this was not obvious to you . . ."

I see no problem with the language,  "We are sorry this was not obvious to you . . ." it sounds sincere to me, perhaps the previous poster was reading too much into it.

I actually thought the way they started off their responses was very empathetic. People are too sensitive.
