App doesn't seem to install on iphone

I followed the instructions above to purchase your browser from my iphone, so I can test it out before using it for my son's phone. The mobicip icon appears on my iphone and says "Waiting" and then disappears. I"ve done this twice (and I assume have paid twice) with the same results. No sign of it anywhere on my iphone. Please advise. Thanks.

Re: App doesn't seem to install on iphone

We are sorry for the trouble you are having. Please scroll through the multiple screens on your device and make sure that Mobicip is not hidden in one of them. If you have folders, please check the folders as well. Another way to check if Mobicip is on your device is to go to the 'Search' screen and type in Mobicip. The app will be displayed in the search results if it's installed on the device.

In case you cannot find the app, it is very easy to restore Mobicip from the App Store for no additional charge. Please launch the App Store app on the device and search for Mobicip. Touch the $4.99 button and select BUY. Use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase Mobicip before, and you will not be charged for the repurchase.

If the download process again takes a long time to complete, then we suggest that you contact iTunes regarding the same. You may contact Apple through this website
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

Please let us know if this answers your question and resolves the issue. Otherwise, we will be happy to assist further. Thank you for choosing Mobicip.

 There is a discrepancy

There is a discrepancy between this article and the knol version. At the stage where the Mobicip app is puchased, the knol advises that the iTunes account for the transaction should be that of the child, whereas in the above article is states that the account should be the parent's.

So which is correct?

I am guessing the knol is correct, since this would make sense in terms of apps syncing to the iPod.

Turning off native Google app

I found this article through an email that said, "The native Google and Bing apps are incorrectly rated at 4+ on the App Store, and this is what you can do to block them:

  1. Use Restrictions to turn off the App Store. You can always turn it back on temporarily to allow app downloads.
  2. Check the device periodically and delete Bing and/or Google, if installed."

======================

I cannot find how to turn off Google Maps app. You might be refering to Google Mobile, but this email says that it is possible to delete native apps. How is this done? I need to delete the Maps app.

Re: Turning off native Google app

By native Google app and Bing app, we meant the apps that are released by Google and Microsoft. We do not believe that it is possible to delete Google maps from your device. You will be able to prevent Google maps from identifying your location by launching the Settings app and going to Location Services and turning Google maps to off, but you will still have Google maps on your device. We will post an update to this forum post if we find otherwise and if there is a way to delete Google maps.

Re: There is a discrepancy

You are correct. Thanks for identifying this discrepancy. Apple has evolved the iTunes account features and we have tried to stay in sync, but it appears that these tutorials have been divergent. Please bear with us and we will correct it asap.

A device can be sync'ed with only one iTunes account at a time. If you sync the device with your own iTunes account, and your son or daughter tries to sync the device with his/her account later, he/she will be prompted to restore the device to factory settings before loading music, apps and settings from his iTunes account to the device.

If your son or daughter has a separate iTunes account that is sync'ed with the device, and it doesn't have a Credit Card associated with it, you could do one of two things to purchase Mobicip.
1. If you think you can handle it, the best option is to use the Home Sharing feature. Home Sharing allows you to purchase music and apps once and use it across multiple computers and iTunes libraries. The setup for this is a little bit involved. Please follow the instructions in this tutorial from Apple's support website.
2. The other option is to setup a gift card or a monthly allowance for your son/daughter's account. For more information, visit this Apple page.

If your child doesn't have an iTunes account already, you can create a new iTunes account and use a redeem code or a gift card in lieu of a credit card. Launch iTunes and sign in using your daughter's iTunes account. If you purchased a gift card, click the link that says "Redeem" at the top right of iTunes under Quick Links. Or simply click this link.

Once the account is setup, follow the instructions in this tutorial to setup Mobicip and other parental control restrictions on the device.

Disabling Safari

This page is also supposed to explain how to disable Safari and the App Store. It does not.

Re: Disabling Safari

We apologize for the confusion caused. Actually, the steps to disable Safari and App store are mentioned in this page under the section - General Parental Control Restrictions Setup. The 15th screen shot from the top will show how to turn OFF the options 'Safari' and 'Installing Apps' (App store) in the device Settings.

Please let us know if this answers your question. Otherwise we will be happy to assist further.
