Blocking Youtube Comments Section

Hello. I've just signed up for the Premium Service for the iTouch. I've followed the guidelines (I think) to filter certain videos from my son's device. However, when testing, whilst a particular music video was blocked, the comments section still appeared. The comments section is exactly one of the aspects of the net I was hoping to block exposure to. This section when viewed through Mobicop, contained bad language which I assumed the service would filter out as well as a list of ugly and frankly disturbing comments.

Should Mobicop filter certain words in comments for Youtube and other sites?

I'm not expecting Mobicop to filter out dodgy comments, but is there a way to block out the Comments section when the app is used without blocking Youtube entirely? (I've logged in under my account ID and turned Safety Mode on using my PC, but believe that this option isn't available on the mobile version of Youtube).

Premium Not Working

I have purchased the Premium filter, put in m.youtube.com, youtube.com, and a bunch of google images sites into the "block" list, however when I go to my son's Iphone it still lets me access those sites.  I've rebooted his phone and tried this again several times, but it still allows me to get right in.

any ideas?

 I spoke with your tech today and I am finally able to access the YouTube HTML site using Mobicip, on my IPod Touch. The Mobicip Filter does not appear to be working correctly, in that I've seen no evidence of "This video was blocked by Mobicip", as shown in your tutorial. To test the filter, I searched for different videos using an "adult" keyword and the message displayed stated "there are no such videos available", without any mention of Mobicip. Music videos with very explicit lyrics and song titles, are not blocked by Mobicip and are accessible to my 10 year old son. For instance when I search for "Eminem Explicit", several videos appear and are viewable, despite the warning that the video contains explicit lyrics. Some of the titles even have the "F Word" in the title, yet are readily displayed and viewable. Please advise me as to how to fix this.

YouTube Now Supports Parental Controls

With the growing rage of children getting addicted and hooked to net for fun these days, setting agitated and complaining parents on the access of inappropriate contents access, you tube has evolved the security standards for children below 18, to set the YouTube's new parental controls and safe search features, leaving the parents tension free. 

Google has taken an initiative in collaboration with YouTube, in discovering a new parental control feature in its video sharing site, YouTube to help filter the unwanted sexual content from the children. The most popular video sharingsite came under the parental scanning and anger, as the site provided open access to inappropriate content, not suggested for children.

Mobicip Announces YouTube Filtering For iPhone & iPod Touch

In response to popular demand from parents, we are happy to announce the rollout of YouTube filtering for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It is available right now for Mobicip.com Premium users, and will be available at High School level for others in a couple of days.

UPDATE: We found that this feature doesn't really allow filtered access to YouTube. It turns out that the only mechanism to play YouTube videos is through the YouTube application itself. So if the YouTube app is disabled (following the instructions below), and Mobicip provides filtered access to YouTube.com, none of the videos will be playable. We are working on finding a workaround for this, in case Apple doesn't support Flash soon. Please bear with us as we find a solution that works. Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE: The issue mentioned above has now been resolved. Please follow the instructions below to setup filtered access to YouTube through the Mobicip browser.

Simply disable the default YouTube application using the Restrictions feature, setup Mobicip Safe Browser as the default method to access YouTube, and unblock the YouTube category (Premium users only).

Disable YouTube on iPhone or iPod Touch

  • From the home screen, select Settings > General.

  • Enter a 4-digit passcode. Make sure you remember this passcode, in case you need to change these settings later on.

  • You will see the restrictions screen. Set Safari, YouTube, and Installing Apps to OFF on this screen.

Setup Mobicip Safe Browser

  • From the home screen on the device, touch the App Store icon.

  • One purchased, the app will be installed on your screen.

Allow YouTube Category using Mobicip.com Premium

If you haven't already, visit www.mobicip.com from your PC to upgrade to the Mobicip.com Premium web application. Mobicip.com Premium is a web-based parental control application that can be accessed from any browser. The Premium application allows you to setup custom Internet filtering settings and policy, and monitor Internet usage on the iPhone and iPod Touch that uses Mobicip as the primary browser.

To allow the YouTube category, select Settings > Categories > YouTube. Uncheck the YouTube categories that you wish to allow and save the settings.

Your child can now access YouTube only through Mobicip Safe Browser, and YouTube in general will be accessible, but inappropriate content alone will be blocked. We would love to hear your feedback on this feature. Please post your thoughts and comments on the forum or contact us.
